Well-known in the decorating community for his sumptuous textured finishes, Cuban-American artist Max Rodriguez will unveil another of his extraordinary talents in a gallery showing of his paintings entitled "The World in My Eyes" at the Johnson Art Collection. Opening Thursday, October 10th, with a reception for the artist featuring Cuban cuisine from 6 to 9 pm, the exhibit will run at the West Hollywood gallery through November 23rd.

Rodriguez' color-drenched paintings are inspired by the intrinsic nature of the earth and its environment. Combining paint, plaster, patinas, crackles and metallics, he depicts a planet continuously affected by the elements of time, climate, cosmic forces, and, not least, mankind. According to Mike Johnson, Gallery Director of the Johnson Art Collection, "Max Rodriguez' paintings lead us on an awe-inspiring trip through the ages. He shows the world as it makes its journey through the millennia; never hurried, never precise, never fully disclosing its secrets -- a journey that embodies beauty, survival, mystery, decline and rebirth."

Working in a style that he deems "accessible", Rodriguez endeavors to create works that will appeal to connoisseurs as well as the occasional buyer looking for something to enhance his or her home. The rich colors, unusual textures and exotic subject matter of his paintings will also appeal to decorators looking for a stunning piece around which to base their designs.

The Johnson Art Collection features a wide variety of moderately priced as well as high end works of art.
